Home arts is an elective offered to all students and emphasizes the area of food science. This is AUTHENTIC LEARNING at its best.
I believe it is really important for students to learn these basic life skills. The will have a cooking/food toolkit that will allow them to get on with the business of living. Middle grade students find it enjoyable and enriching to explore experiences that capitalize on their innate curiosity and everpresent hunger.
I've been teaching Home Arts for thirty years and it is never boring.
